A Caring Community of God's People

Ministry & Services

The mission of the Church is to spread the Good News of God's love through ministry and service to those in need who live in our community, our nation, and throughout the world.  We do this in a variety of ways such as sharing our financial resources, sharing our energy by such activities as raising funds to send members on mission trips and sharing our time by participating in a variety of mission directed projects.  We learn about missions from our Presbytery and have also enhanced our own education about missions through our quarterly "Moment for Missions".
The Choir of First Presbyterian Church is made up of about 9 volunteer singers, some of whom studied music in college.  The purpose of the Choir is to assist in leading the Worship Service through hymm singing, anthems, introits and responses.
The Choir meets each week (except in summer months) at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday in the Choir Room of the Church.  The Choir has a large and varied repertoire of sacred music.  They enjoy work and fellowship with each other.  The Music Ministry of First Presbyterian Church seeks to use anthems and service music in keeping with the theme of the selected scriptures and sermons.
Membership in the Choir is open to all people of college age and older who are willing to commit to a Wednesday evening choir rehearsal and singing the 11:00 a.m. Worship Service on Sunday and other special occasions.  If you are interested in becoming a member of the FPC Choir, Please contact the Church office.
We provide care and nurturing of church members; visiting sick and shut-ins; flowers and cards; telephone communication with church membership; coordination or response to special needs of members, such as meals and special care; fellowship activities.
We plan mission trips to help spread the Good News locally, nationally and internationally.  We have participated in mission trips to Mexico, sponsored by our regional governing body, Salem Presbytery.  We have also taken several mission trips down east to help with Hurricane rebuilding activities.  Check our calendar of events for upcoming trips.
Our Church is involved in local ministry including Cooperative Community Ministries and Habitat for Humanity.  We value service to our community, and many of our members are involved in local service organizations.
We have Nursery Attendance that provide nursery and child care for parents during Sunday School, Sunday Worship Services, and other events and activities.
Transportation to and from services and other events is available upon request for those who do not drive.  If you, or someone you know, would like to participate in the life of First Presbyterian Church and needs transportation, please call the church office between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon Mondays through Thursdays.
