Tenebrae literally means "darkness". The service commemorates the suffering and death of Christ, progressing from light to darkness. Ushers come forward to take their light from the Christ Candle. Then light the candle of the worshipper nearest the center aisle.
As the Users bring the cross past each pew during the reading of the scriptures, everyone in the pew extinguishes their candle. Extinguishing the candles symbolizes the fading of loyalty of the disciples and friends of Jesus and also fading of the world as Christ was departing from it. The extinguishing of the central candle signifies the death of Jesus. The service ends after the tolling of the bell with the sanctuary in darkness.
We mourn the death of Christ Jesus
Easter Sunday morning we create a floral cross on the front lawn.
Hear the good news that the angels now say: "He Is Risen! Risen indeed!" Rejoice and sing praises on this happy day. Death has been conquered, the battle is done.
Pastor Mike Lamm
with his shepard's staff, leads the choir and members out to the front lawn.
and led us in prayer before morning worship services.
The Shepard's staff was handed over to Elder Carolyn Bennett
who led the congregation back into church and the sanctuary.
Everyone follows behind Elder Bennett.
We all follow one another.
Each with their own thoughts.
Of well being and strong faith
And love and great hope for the future.
The sanctuary has been filled with white lilies.
During Children's Moment
Pastor Lamm gave each child a resurrection cookie along with the story then passed the cookies through the congregation.
After Communion everyone witnessed the Baptism of Dori Ann Tyson
